Zombie War

As a nurse in the genetics department, Sarah witnesses the mutation of the AIDS vaccine. Instead of a cure, the vaccine turns into a viral curse, spreading rapidly and infecting patients. Now the dead walk the earth, and Sarah is the only hope for a small group of survivors.
But zombies aren’t the only threat. Winter is on the way and supplies are running low. Now it’s up to Sarah to lead the group to warmer climates so they can survive. When a new threat reveals itself, they must fight for their lives one more time. Will anyone survive?

Interview Time - K. R. Jordan

Please tell the readers a bit more about you.
When I was a young girl, we lived down a country road far outside the city limits. We didn't get city water so daddy put in a well. Around the base of the well there was always a small pool of water. Maybe there was a leak or something, I don't really remember.
Anyway, all along the edge of this 3-foot pool, pink and purple buttercups grew. It was my secret place -- where my imagination buzzed along fairy filled forests and green, green meadows.
Yeah. I was a weird kid.

When and why did you begin writing? What inspired you to write your first book?

I was in sixth grade and I entered a local writing contest and won. It was published in the local paper.

What's the hardest part of the writing process for you?
Catching the muse. She's continually in and out of the shadows of my subconscious.  Also, I work a lot of weird hours.

How do you solve writer's block? The techniques or specific activities that help put you back on track.
With writer's block you have to be patient. I can usually loosen the writer’s block on an isolated stretch of the beach. Or listening to apocalyptica. They unruffle my tense muscles.

What is one of the most surprising things you've learned as a writer?
I've learned that I don't have an eye for profit. I just enjoy the writing. The marketing etc. is like the anti-happy.

What is the best advice you would give to inspiring authors?
The worst enemy for a beginner writer is self-intimidation. Your own thought processes will bully you into giving up. Give yourself pep talks. Know that you can and you will succeed!

What does your family think of your writing?
My family is glad that my crazy imagination is pre-occupied in my books! Just kidding, they want me to succeed. They don't always understand my need to write, but they love me and want me to be happy.

What type of books do you enjoy reading?
I enjoy classic literature and sometimes feel that I was born in the wrong century.

If you could pick the ultimate place to write a book – where would it be in the world?

Galápagos Islands

The Broken by K. R. Jordan.

Synopsis: A family flees the threat of communism and finds that freedom is a ghost, whispering along the edges just out of reach.
I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Texas and spent most of my youth in, on or near the water.

My father was a fisherman that always had a paperback Louis L'amour in his back pocket. My mother would read anything and everything she could get her hands on.

My own personal love of reading and writing began at a very young age. I would spend hours at the local library checking out as many books as they would allow.

I write under the names K.R. Jordan or River Jordan. Mostly I write fiction, but I am obsessed with writing a personal history of my family.

I still live on the Gulf Coast of Texas with my family and I enjoy writing, reading, fishing and the great outdoors!

Angered Seasons by Mireille Chester

5 Stars

Captivating and way too short. Angered Seasons is a very interesting take on the Apocalypse centered in Canada. I can't wait to read more and find out what happens to everyone involved in this tale. I also wonder about the silver eyes....

Arm Farm by Sarah Butland

2 Stars
It feels as f the author could have fleshed out the book a bit more no pun intended. The writing feels stilted and doesn't really grab my attention. The story is good, intriguing even. I think if Sarah cleared it up a bit, it would be gripping and emotional. I just have a hard time believing that a 21-year-old student would have so many liberties with cases and how they're handled. Not to mention her extremely erratic responses to everything. Her parents are simply mentioned in an interview (still don't understand why she was being interviewed, but whatever), and she faints. Then she gets kidnapped and it's no biggie?! Arm Farm has such potential, but falls way short.

Seven Years & Sterling by Dannika Dark

5 Stars
LOVED this book. I feel like I stepped into the middle of the series at times, but not so lost that I couldn't understand what was going on. The story was fun, believable, and had me wanting more, I may read the Mageri series before continuing the Seven series, but I honestly can't wait to read more about the Weston Pack. If you like werewolves, romance, and excitement, pick this book up. You won't regret it.

5 Stars
This is the second book I've read by Dark, and I'm starting to think all of her writing is phenomenal. I loved this book and didn't want to put it down. If you like supernatural and flat-out good storytelling, pick up this book Scratch that. Just grab the whole series. Love this!

Maggie for Hire by Kate Danley

5 Stars
Such a fun book! Danley is filled with such a snarky sense of humor, you couldn't stop smiling even as the tension built. I completely enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more of Magic Maggie.

Influential Magic by Deanna Chase

3 Stars
Suspenseful and intriguing with a super annoying love triangle. It felt like a forced love triangle while it ended in an obvious and satisfying manner, it didn't need to happen. If Chase would have focused more on fleshing out the actual story instead of putting the reader through the love triangle, I think this story would be 5 stars fantastic. Instead, I had to force myself through the crap to find the good story.
